Required: 20 minutes of independent reading or studying nightly (RAZ-Kids and Study Island are excellent resources to be used.)
Optional: Learning how to study information is a critical skill for all students. Below are some ideas you can add to what you already know. We encourage you to do at least one study activity each school night.
Make flash cards of important terms.
Draw and label a diagram from this week’s lesson.
Explain to someone at home about what you learned today.
Write a summary in your own words about what you learned.
Research an interesting topic on National Geographic Kids.
Read an additional 20 minutes for your 40 book challenge.
Skim your notes from today. Look for patterns or important details.
Find three words you don’t know and look up the meanings.
Make up three practice questions you may see on a test.
Write a poem or funny story using some key terms from your lesson.
Create a bubble map of a character that you are reading about.
Create a double bubble to compare 2 characters in your book.
Draw a picture of a scene in a book you are reading.
Go over your notes and highlight key facts.
Compare your notes with a friend or neighbor. Add something to yours.
Reflect on today’s lessons and make a connection.

Explain to a someone how how to round numbers to the nearest 10, 100, and 1,000.
Create one addition and one subtraction word problem and solve both.
Practice your multiplication facts.
Create 5 addition problems (through one thousand) and solve.
Create 5 subtraction problems (through one thousand) and solve.
Have someone say a number through one million and you write it down in standard form (5 times).
Have someone write a number through 1 million and you read it correctly (5 times).
