The narrator does not reveal any character’s thoughts or feelings.

4. 3rd Person Limited
You can see the thoughts or feelings of one character
Leslie sat in front of Paul. She had two long, brown pigtails that reached all the way down to her waist. Paul saw those pigtails, and a terrible urge came over him. He wanted to pull a pigtail.

5. 3rd Person Omniscient
All-knowing narrator. Tells the thoughts and feelings of more than one character.
At Dawn, Mae Tuck set out for Treegap on her horse to meet her two sons, Miles and Jesse, and she was feeling at ease. At noon time, Winnie Foster whose family owned Treegap, lost her patience.

When you have pronouns from 1st person, 2nd person, or 3rd person being used together in one story, ask yourself who is speaking to determine the point of view.

Do not look in dialogue for point of view. Cross out anything in quotes.
