1 Welcome to the First Meeting of
The Miqra At the Upper Room Chapel

2 What to Expect of a True Prophet and of the Messiah When He Comes
Understanding What the Law Says About the True and the False Prophet

3 Heads Up! You may hear some things today you have never heard before You may hear some things today that are different than how they were taught to you before Be a Berean Let’s dig into the Scriptures to get a balanced view of our subject matter

4 Regarding Parables Jesus Said
"Have you understood all these things?" Jesus asked. "Yes," they replied. He said to them, "Therefore every teacher of the law who has been instructed about the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.“ (Matthew 13:51-52)

5 What Does a True Prophet Look Like?
Why is this important? If Jesus is the Prophet come from God, what do we need to know about him? Does Jesus qualify as a Prophet?

6 The Test of a True Prophet Deuteronomy 13:1-2 Suppose a prophet or one who foretells by dreams should appear among you and show you a sign or wonder, and the sign or wonder should come to pass concerning what he said to you, namely, "Let us follow other gods - gods whom you have not previously known - and let us serve them."

7 False Prophets Deceiving By Miracles
Remember Pharaoh's officials 2 Thessalonians 2:9 The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, 10 and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved. 11 For this reason God sends them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie 12 and so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have delighted in wickedness.

8 Deuteronomy 13:3-4 You must not listen to the words of that prophet or dreamer, for the LORD your God will be testing you to see if you love him with all your mind and being. You must follow the LORD your God and revere only him; and you must do his commandments, obey him, serve him, and remain loyal to him.

9 Deuteronomy 13:5 As for that prophet or dreamer, he must be executed because he encouraged rebellion (apostasy) against the LORD your God who brought you from the land of Egypt, redeeming you from the place of slavery, and because he has tried to entice you from the way the LORD your God has commanded you to go. In this way you must purge out evil from within.

10 Characteristics of a False Prophet He may do miracles and wonders He will introduce a different way to worship Father in heaven He will reject the laws and commandments Father has established for his people He will say Yahuwah spoke when Yah did not actually speak What he predicts will not come to pass

11 Characteristics of a True Prophet He may do wonders and miracles He will proclaim the true worship of Father in heaven He will embrace and teach the laws and commandments Father has established for his people He will attribute to Yahuwah only what he actually said What he predicts will happen as he said

12 Many theologians and denominational scholars have said that Jesus’ death on the cross signaled the abolition of the Father’s law to institute a new Law of Love

13 If Jesus came to do away with his Father’s commandments to introduce a new Law of Love to his disciples, then he is without a doubt a FALSE prophet!

14 If you believe that Jesus abolished the “Old Testament Law” in order to establish a better Law, then the Jesus you put your faith in is either a false prophet or a figment of your imagination. That Jesus is not the Jesus of Scripture. You must rethink what you believe about Jesus

15 Is the “New” Law of Jesus a Different Law from Father’s Law?
"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another“ (4th Gospel 13:34-35)

16 Is John’s Command New? 1 John 2
7 Dear friends, I am not writing you a new command but an old one, which you have had since the beginning. This old command is the message you have heard. 8 Yet I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you, because the darkness is passing and the true light is already shining. 9 Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates his brother is still in the darkness. 10 Whoever loves his brother lives in the light, and there is nothing in him to make him stumble.

17 Is John’s Command New? 2 John 1
And now, dear lady, I am not writing you a new command but one we have had from the beginning. I ask that we love one another. 6 And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.

18 What Does the TaNaCH say about Messiah?
6 Sacrifice and offering you did not desire, but my ears you have pierced; burnt offerings and sin offerings you did not require. 7 Then I said, "Here I am, I have come-- it is written about me in the scroll. 8 I desire to do your will, O my Elohim; your law (Torah) is within my heart.“ (Psalm 40:6-8)

19 When He Comes, Will Messiah Teach the Torah
When He Comes, Will Messiah Teach the Torah? 2 In the last days the mountain of Yahuwah's temple will be established as chief among the mountains; it will be raised above the hills, and all nations will stream to it. 3 Many peoples will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahuwah, to the house of the God of Jacob. He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The Torah will go out from Zion, the word of Yahuwah from Jerusalem. (Isaiah 2:2-3)

20 Did Jesus Abolish the Laws and Commandments of His Father?
Can One sent from God abolish the Father’s commandments? God does not change! The word he has spoken from is mouth is faithful.

21 What did Jesus say about this matter?
Matthew 5:17-20 (NIV) "Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them. 18 I tell you the truth, until heaven and earth disappear, not the smallest letter, not the least stroke of a pen, will by any means disappear from the Law until everything is accomplished. 19 Anyone who breaks one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever practices and teaches these commands will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. 20 For I tell you that unless your righteousness surpasses that of the Pharisees and the teachers of the law, you will certainly not enter the kingdom of heaven.

22 Fulfill Depending on how one prefers to interpret the context, (Greek, play-ro-o) is understood here either as fulfill=do, carry out, or as bring to full expression=show it forth in its true mng., or as fill up =complete...(Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament and Other Early Christian Literature, p.671)

23 What did Jesus say about this matter?

24 The New Covenant Does Not Annul God’s Law!
"The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah. 32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them," declares the LORD. 33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will put my Law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people. 34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, 'Know the LORD,' because they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more.“ (Jeremiah 31)
