2 What I am I am a level 2 CDE who is professed in communication, diabetes education, counseling and management training. A level 2 CDE is the amount of information I am able to provide to people with my schooling

3 What I do Focus on helping people with diabetes
Helps people at risk of diabetes Talk about how to prevent diabetes Overall, how to live a healthy lifestyle, with or without diabetes

4 What I do I help people with lots of problem solving, because in diabetes, there are many things that can occur sporadically, high blood pressure or low blood pressure and also many other things. I help people figure out what to do when they get illnesses like the flu, affecting a diabetic much more than someone who does not have diabetes. I also help people figure out a eating plan, because going more than 5 hours without eating as a diabetic can be very dangerous. We talk about prevention of diabetes, with starting a healthy food plan (I am a certified dietitian)

-Verona High school (Food/dietitian, social wellness) College: -University of Pittsburgh -Bachelors of Science in Nutrition -Schooling in Physical Therapy, Dietitian/Nutrition, Wellness, Teaching, Learning and Communication skills -3-5 years of clinical education 1,000 hours of diabetes education and 15 extra hours of education. National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators

6 Salary Hourly wage: $34 Weekly pay: $1,600 Yearly pay: $68,000

Brochures Computer Space where clients feel comfortable sharing about how diabetes is affecting them.

9 Daily Schedule 8:00- Start work
8:15- Check schedule for patients for the day 8:45- First morning client (each one-on-one class 2 ½ hours long) Learning: Assess their knowledge about diabetes, review with them about what they will need to know. (Foods, Meal plans, Exercise plans, Keeping a diary) Diabetics: Explain how food affects your blood sugar, how to take medications correctly(how to use the blood glucose meter), how to lower your risks of diabetes complications 10:15- Prep for next patient

10 Daily Schedule 10:30 - Midday client 1:00- Lunch break
1:45- Diabetes Support Group once a week on Tuesday (Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes members come together to talk about how they cope with diabetes complications such as hypercalcemia ). 3:00- Patient 5:30- Log all of the data from the day and how people are dealing with diabetes and what we need to go over next time. 6:00- Go home
