Acid / Base Worksheet Answer the questions to the Acid/Base worksheet by clicking through the following slides that were made by you and your classmates.

Acids An Acid is a ion donator Strong acids Weak acids
Completely ionized Examples of strong acids Sulfuric, Nitric & Hydro bromic Weak acids Partially ionized Examples of weak acids Nitrous, Benzoic & Hydrofluoric Two Examples of acids If it tastes sour if it is below seven on the pH scale

Bases Base: a substance that produces hydroxide ions in solution or accepts hydrogen ions.

Reactions Acid + Base = Neutralization Ex: Salt and Water

pH scale Measurement Bases Acids Neutral 8-14 0-6 7

Acid Rain Examples Rain water is naturally acidic but because of carbon dioxide it makes it more of a danger. CO2 is in our atmosphere. It causes harm to the lakes and rivers lined with inert materials. It kills trees and burns the branches off. Carbon dioxide (co2) + Water (h2o) = Carbonic Acid (h2co3) Sulfur Dioxide (2SO2) + Oxygen (o2) = Sulfur Trioxide (2so3) Sulfur Trioxide (2so3) + Water (h2o) = Sulfuric Acid (h2so4)
