2 Class Overview Grade Level: 6-9 MD Self Contained Resource Room Class
School Setting: Rural District (Urbana) Junior High School Resource Room Approximately 600 students Standards (On Plan): Earth and Space Sciences Grade 8.

3 Standards Ohio Benchmark Grade 8 Earth and Space Sciences:
A. Describe how the positions and motions of the objects in the universe cause predictable and cyclic events. Ohio Indicators Grade 8 Earth and Space Sciences: 8A3. - Compare the orbits and composition of comets and asteroids with that of Earth.

4 Differentiation and Modifications
The lesson was differentiated and modified because of class academic level and learning styles. Graphic organizer was used to help students find and organize most important ideas from reading. Summarization of content learned was done as we were making comet. Comet was a hands-on activity to address students’ different learning style. Lower level and higher level students were put in groups of two to make project.

8 Data Interpretation All students increased their score.

9 Reflection The lesson was a success.
The students were engaged in a hands-on project. The graphic organizer and project helped them to learn and summarize new information. All students showed an increase in test scores proving they did learn new material.
