Let the light of Christ shine in our lives
Gather The Lord be with you And also with you Let the light of Christ shine in our lives

Receive “For as in one body we have many members and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another.” From Paul’s Letter to the Romans, chapter 12, verses 4 and 5

Engage "The best thing the Diocese can do for our young people, many of them poor, some orphans, is to offer them skills for life". Bishop Given Gaula The Vocational Centre seeks to equip young people in the Diocese to learn a trade and develop skills that will generate an income. The majority of young people in Kondoa finish their education after primary school, and therefore are unable to contribute to their family or village communities. After courses lasting 6 months or 1 year at The Vocational Centre, students will be able to return to their villages using their newly acquired skills to generate an income, support their families and contribute to the local economy.

Engage Video suggestion … An example of how vocational skills training can change lives (Bangladesh) Some discussion ideas … What are vocational skills? What vocational skills do you think will help young people in Kondoa, how is this different to what vocational skills we need in the UK? Discussion techniques - Go back to the Bible passage ask “How does the theme link with the Bible passage?” Discuss the question in pairs for 30 seconds then invite a response from each pair. Use quick-fire answers e.g. throw a soft bean bag / toy to a student, when they answer they throw it back and you quickly throw to another student. Simplify the question - Invite quick one-word answers, write them on the board, then reflect on the answers – see connections. Activity suggestion … Think of ways we can raise money this year for The Vocational Centre in Kondoa. What can you do as a tutor group?

Respond [Reflect for a minute on the worship theme and our engagement …] We thank you for all of the people in the Diocese of Kondoa and all of the work that is happening there, bless them as they continue in this ministry to help young people to learn. Encourage those who are developing the links between our two communities. Amen Prayer / reflection technique – Give a summary of the theme and any responses that students may have made, then invite everyone to be still (remind no books open etc – lessen distraction). To pray or reflect on today’s worship. Be quiet for one minute. Then say the prayer …

Go Let us bless the Lord Thanks be to God
