Warm Up -2(x - 1) -3(x + 5) 4(x - 2)
Simplify the following expressions by distributing: -2(x - 1) -3(x + 5) 4(x - 2)

Point slope Form To Slope Intercept Form
Unit 6 : Day 7 Point slope Form To Slope Intercept Form
3
You now know two types of linear equations!
Point Slope y – y1 = m(x – x1) Slope Intercept y = mx + b
4
Here is an equation in point slope form:
y - 3 = 2(x - 5) y - 3 = 2(x - 5) I want this equation in slope intercept form! How can we use algebra to write this equation in slope intercept form?
5
Steps for Converting Point Slope → Slope Intercept
Distribute the slope. y – y1 = m(x – x1) Get y alone.
6
Example 1: Convert to Slope Intercept Form
y - 3 = 2(x - 5) Distribute the slope. Get y alone.
7
Example 2: Convert to Slope Intercept Form
y + 4 = -3(x - 2)
8
Example 3: Convert to Slope Intercept Form
You must write the equation first! A line with slope -2 that passes through the point (5, -1). Distribute the slope. Get y alone.
9
Example 4: Convert to Slope Intercept Form
You must write the equation first! A line with slope 5 that passes through the point (-2, -3).
10
Example 5: Convert to Slope Intercept Form
Choose a point on the graph and find the slope. Then write an equation in point slope form. Then, convert to slope intercept form.
