Month Year doc.: IEEE yy/xxxxr0 March 2008 Vision for the future I propose a focus on defining clear goals and effective processes Goals: Address market needs – driven by marking input Limit the scope of what we authorize so it directly addresses these needs Processes: Current selection processes promote conflict and “kitchen sink” compromise. Instead we should be willing to try alternative such as promoting early mergers or “let the market decide”. We are rules-heavy. We should only keep rules that work for us. We should meet an expected response time for any management process (e.g. a guaranteed 2 days for releasing a ballot or 1 day for putting a draft on the server) “Matrix” job sharing – each person performs more than one role, and each role can be performed by more than one person. Document and checklist common functions. More administration can be automated – reducing error and delay Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation John Doe, Some Company
