Social order and stability depend on co-operation between individuals working towards the same shared norms and values. Social order is maintained over time due to adequate socialization and because people support and agree to abide by the rules.
How do these these approaches to social order apply to our shared norms and values?
Conflict Approach to Social Order
(Marxist)
There is a conflict of interests between the bourgeoisie and the proletariat. Social order is maintained because the bourgeoisie has the power to enforce order.
