2. The Call to Adventure
Pocahontas’ call to adventure is when her dad returns and tells her that Kokoum has asked to marry her. Her father
tells her that she needs
to choose her own path.

3. Refusal of Quest
She refuses her quest when she doesn’t want to choose. She wants to be free.

4. Crossing the First Threshold
This happens when she follows the wind and sees the ships of the English. She then spies on them and has a few close calls.

5. Supernatural Aid
The willow tree is her supernatural aid. She tells Pocahontas to listen to the wind and follow it.

6. Belly of the Whale
When she is spying on him one time, he finds her. Now she has been found and things can’t go back to how they were.

7. Meeting with the Goddess
Pocahontas gets to know John Smith and falls in love with him.

8. Road of Trials
-She is continuously disobeying her father. -Thomas, one of the English settlers, finds John and follows them.
-Pocahontas and John get caught by Kokoum and he attacks, Thomas shoots Kokoum.
-The Indians want to fight the English, they get warriors from other tribes to come fight with them.
-Her friend Nakoma won't support her and doesn’t want her to go.

9. Woman as Temptress
Pocahontas’ friend Nakoma tries to stop her from going with John, she won’t support her.

10. Atonement with the Father
She faces her father and death and saves John Smith’s life.

11. Apotheosis
She is hurt and feels horrible when Thomas kills Kokoum. She also feels bad that John got captured. She feels that it would have been better if they had never met.

12. The Ultimate Boon
Her father Powhatan shows a sign of peace to the English after she saves John’s life. They don’t fight and so they don’t kill. Peace between them is created.

13. Crossing the Return Threshold
The English and the Native Americans now can live peacefully because they see that it is possible to get along and love each other.

14. Master of Two Worlds
She and the English now have a good relationship and so she can now get along with both the Indians and the English. She is loved among both.

15. Freedom to Live
She now doesn’t have to hide her love and she doesn’t have to lie to her dad. She also can be herself and be free because she has chosen her own path and she doesn’t have to marry Kokoum anymore, she can choose to do whatever she wants.
