Single Phase Motor Speed Control
Most AC compressors need to run at full speed only 25% of the time. There are a billion single phase, single speed motors that are used in air conditioners, heat pumps and refrigeration compressors in the USA; these could run at half speed 75%+ of the time. Annual electricity savings would be huge. Peak demand would cease to be a problem.

What Nikola Tesla Never Knew…
Existing single phase electric motors can run at half speed ( RPM) at about half torque at about half the electricity (KWH) consumed and NOT overheat. There are no useful speed controllers for single phase electric motors on the market.

The Fix A black box can be added to any single phase electric motor to make it run at any number of speeds down to 25% with proportional torque and electricity consumption reduction and not overheat. $Payback will be under a year (depending on climate and internal heat load) .

Caveat Some AC / heat pump / refrigeration equipment might need to be fitted with a different thermal control expansion valve TXV if the existing valve will not provide proper expansion at lower RPM (“out of range”). A wider range off-the-shelf high-efficiency valve can be installed. The Cirrus “black box” can contain a circuit for an electric thermal control expansion valve.

The Cirrus “black box” can contain a circuit to operate an off-the-shelf electronic thermal control expansion valve. Cirrus has a break-through design for an electric thermal control expansion valve WITH NO MOVING PARTS.* This will provide the highest possible efficiency under all operating conditions. The Cirrus valve is very low cost (a “disruptive technology”). *Working test units and patents needed.

Cirrus has a design for a very high efficiency condenser fan blade.* Working blade on hand was tested 500 hours. An on-hand proportional speed condenser fan controller can be added to any system to save an average of ½ horsepower / 1,600 Watts / 1.6 KWH per hour of operation! All with hundreds of hours of testing in our heat chamber. *With special design fan shroud.
