2 What is a Resume? Summary of personal info
Outlines your qualifications for a particular job Usually includes: Educational Background Work History Honors & Awards Memberships & Leadership References Résumé should include educational background work history honors and awards membership in club and/or community activities, including leadership positions held and community service references.

3 Keeping a Current Resume
Important to keep your resume current in order to reflect pertinent experience & education. Resume should be customized for each position to which you apply. Resumes change over time!

Reviewing an applicant’s resume saves the employer time before and during an interview. How much time does a hiring manager usually spend looking at a resume? 20 seconds (average) 20 seconds per resume

The identification should include contact information: Name Address Telephone Number Address What should stand out the most in the header? JOEY JOBLESS 4321 Home Ct. Town, ST 12345 (555)

7 Summary (Objective) The summary of qualifications or objective statement should indicate the type of job you want or the position for which you are applying. Customize this statement for each application!

8 Education List each school (high school or post-secondary) you have attended in the Education section. Additional information: Dates of Attendance Diplomas or Degrees Earned Courses Related to the Job

9 Work History List work experience or volunteer work related to the position you are seeking. Additional Information: Past / Current Job(s) Internships Description of Responsibilities

10 Honors & Awards Include any recognition that you have received at work, school, or in extracurricular settings. Examples include: Scholarships Attendance or Academic Awards Character Awards

11 Memberships & Leadership
List the organizations that you have participated in or of which you are currently a member. Academic or Athletic Activities Honor Societies Religious Organizations Indicate the dates of membership and specific leadership roles. Soccer NHS Key Club Choir SCA
