3. Gatsby Journal #1
What is the American Dream? What does it take to achieve this dream? Who determines your success in the dream-you or others?

4. Gatsby Journal #2
Write about your dreams or wishes that you once had that you now know were unrealistic. What have you learned from those dreams?

5. Gatsby Journal #3
What will your life be like in 20 years? Tell me important facts about your life. How will the world be different?

6. Gatsby Journal #4
You have won an award based on your dream. Write your acceptance speech thanking those people that helped you along the way.

7. Gatsby Journal #5 Write a recipe for your American Dream. Example:
2 cups of perseverance
1 ½ cups of courage
Pinch of luck
Combine ingredients and wait ten years, stirring occasionally and adding extra ingredients as needed.

8. Gatsby Journal #6
Write about a dream you have already accomplished. Describe the challenges you faced in realizing this dream and how you felt when you accomplished it.

The Great Gatsby abounds with icons of the 1920s-Gatsby’s car, jazz music, women’s dresses. List some objects that typify the current decade, and incorporate as many of them as is reasonably possible in describing a day in your life.
