What is the Teaching and Learning faculty track?
Designed for faculty who excel in teaching beyond knowledge of the discipline they teach. Also, have a strong interest in and commitment to topics like: research-base behind quality teaching and learning in higher education student learning and development assessment of student learning outcomes design of powerful learning environments

Why switch tracks? Foster a stronger and more positive faculty identity around teaching and learning at NLU Clarify a pathway for promotion Opportunity for multi-year contracts Personal passion for promoting teaching and learning

What are the expectations of this track?
Keep abreast of advancements and emergent innovations in learning and teaching in higher education to contribute to institutional leadership in teaching and learning in areas such as: establishing and maintaining high standards for the evaluation of teaching excellence assisting in peer observation and evaluation of teaching across the institution working with the Provost’s office and LITS to establish criteria for certifying excellence in course design at NLU providing mentoring and professional development opportunities for full time faculty in pedagogy and course design supervising and mentoring adjunct faculty contributing to the acquisition and curation of quality resources to support teaching and learning ***SEE DOMAIN 2 RUBRIC FOR T&L TRACK

How might your goals change?
New T&L Goals -- reflect desire to influence NLU teaching and learning distinction and continuous improvement. Building knowledge base and experience with new approaches Mentoring Constructing evidence based for core teaching practices Assuming leadership role around teaching/learning Create visible learning to continuously improve T&L at NLU Expected outcome continuous improvement of teaching and learning at NLU

Application Process Admission into the track as an Assistant Professor of Teaching and Learning will be based on evidence of excellence in teaching and knowledge of, or commitment to developing, specialized expertise in student development, student assessment, and/or learning and instructional design in higher education. Application materials (due November 1): Rationale articulating commitment to the criteria (2-4 pages max) Current year goals and revised goals (as needed) to address the T&L criteria CV Recommendation from the Dean
