5 The JAE Programme The launch of the JAE Programme at The John Warner School: This initiative is aimed at elite athletes who are currently studying in our school and aims to support talented pupils by offering mentoring and help in managing their studies and out of school commitments. The criteria for the JAE programme are as follows; 1. Pupils who train more than 5 times a week or who train in mornings. 2. Elite performers at county or national level, including football academies. 3. If your parents feel that your studies are being affected by sport.

6 The Three Workshops Workshop 1 - Lifestyle management awareness e.g. - the importance of maintaining a balanced lifestyle in order to maximise their potential in their sport, their academic work and their social development Workshop 2 - Performance profiling e.g. - how to identify weaknesses and strengths in their sport and academic profile and write an action plan to improve identified areas Workshop 3 - Performance planning e.g. - how to plan and identify 'hotspots' or clashes in their calendar year in terms of their competitions, training, school/exam commitments and social commitments (this forms the basis of an individual education plan (IEP) for identified gifted and talented pupils)

7 The JAE mentors at John Warner Every Talented Performer in school will be offered a JAE mentor to support them in addressing obstacles or hot spots around their sport and study. The JAE mentor will help them to mange their time more effectively and cope with issues arising because of the demands on their time from sport and school. As a general rule, mentors will usually be asked to mentor a small group of G&T young sports people and meet them as a group to discuss their progress and share ideas.
