25 Can you buy it? You will need: Board
Coins (real or plastic) ( 4x50p, 8x20p,8x10p,8x5p,10x2p,15x1p) Coloured counters (each player needs to have their own colour, 25 counters each for 2 players,10 each for 5 players) A bag or box, non-transparent (to be treated as the ‘bank’) To play: (for 2 -5 players) The first player picks out 2 coins from the bag and counts the total. The player then checks if this amount matches the exact cost of an item on the board. No change can be given so coins must be exact. If so, the player puts one of his chosen colour counters on the item and pays the coins to the bank by returning the coins to the bag. Only one item can be bought each turn. Each player must at some point buy a shopping bag on the board. If the amount does not match any items, the player keeps the coins and adds to them with the coins taken at the next turn. The game continues with the second player taking 2 coins and looking for a match. On subsequent turns, the players take 2 more coins and check to see if any combined amounts they can make with their collection of coins matches the cost of an item. If so, they put a counter on the item on the board and pay the bank. Play continues with each player taking 2 coins on their turn. The winner is the player with the most counters on the board when all items have been ‘bought’. At the end, each player collects up the counters they have placed on items around the board and places them in their bag at checkout to see which player has the most items and thereby wins the game. * Note that children should be encouraged to use strategy when spending their money, as the winner will be the player with the most items bought, not the one buying the most expensive items.
