Lord of the Flies William Golding wrote Lord of the Flies at the end of WWII. It was published in at the beginning of the Cold War. Genre - The novel is an allegory about human nature and society with dystopian characteristics. The novel alludes to the conflict between democracy and totalitarian communism.
