3. What’s unique about The Balvenie’s Malting Process
Balvenie still operates its own floor maltings. These days, most distilleries buy their malt from commercial maltings, however in the past all distilleries had there own malting room.
Tamdu, Highland Park, Laphroaig, Bowmore, Glengarioch, Springbank and possibly Ardmore, also do their own floor malting.
Seasonal for some due to the weather (like Bowmore –hot weather makes it difficult to control the process)
