BELL WORK! Pick up a handout and glue it in your composition notebook on page 64. Quietly work on the handout.
2
Atomic # vs. Mass #
3
Determine the number of protons, neutrons, and electrons in the following…
4
Drawing Atoms Remember… The first electron cloud holds two electrons.
That electron cloud has to be full before you can draw another electron cloud. The next electron clouds can hold 8 electrons. Electron clouds have to be full before you can draw another electron cloud. Draw the electrons on the electron cloud…not between the clouds.
5
Now…let’s draw them! Boron: First step…”PEN” it out for Boron! P=5 P=5
This is how you should draw the nucleus.
6
Challenge: Lithium P = 3 N = 4
7
Challenge: Helium P = 2 N = 2
8
Challenge: Neon P = 10 N = 10
9
Challenge: Hydrogen P = 1 N = 0
10
Today’s Assignment: Fold your paper into eight boxes.
Draw the following atoms in each of the boxes. B1: Hydrogen B2: Helium B3: Lithium B4: Beryllium B5: Boron B6: Carbon B7: Nitrogen B8: Oxygen
