3 Product means both goods & services. Internal environment includes the factors within its boundaries that affect its performance. Internal factors – the organization has control over them. External factors – outside the organizations control.

4 It is important to match the internal environment with the external. 5 Internal environment factors: 1. Management, 2. Mission, 3. Resources, 4. Systems process, and 5. Structure.

5 Managers are responsible for org. Performance. They plan, organize, lead & control. The leadership style they use & decisions they make affect performance of the org. Effective managers develop their orgs internal environment with a culture of success & constantly scan external environment for business opportunities.

6 The organizations mission is its purpose or reason for being. Missions should clearly state the organizations objectives. Shorter mission statements are easier to understand and carry out. Should be relevant to all stakeholders. Stakeholders – people whose interests are affected by organizational behaviour. A mission can also be defined as the outcome that the organization strives to attain.

7 Organizations need resources to accomplish their mission. Organizational resources include: Human Financial Physical informational

8 Human: The organizations workforce. Responsible for achieving the organizations mission and objectives.

9 Financial: Used to purchase & maintain its physical resources and to pay employees.

10 Physical: May include fitness centres, swimming pools, gymnasiums, and inexpensive temporary housing.

11 Informational: Business directories. Websites.

12 The method used to transform inputs into outputs. 1. Inputs: Provide the organization with operating necessities (resources). 2. Transformation Processes: Inputs must be transformed into outputs. 3. Outputs: Different levels of satisfaction experienced by each client. 4. Feedback: ensures that the inputs & transformation process produce the desired results (outputs).

13 An organizations structure is the way in which it groups its resources to accomplish its mission. The structure may be organized as departments: Finance, Marketing, Production & Personnel.

17 Limited time & facilities. Or if you have many participants. If you are wanting to determine 1 winner.

18 Determine whether entries are an even power of 2. If so then draw for position. When the entries is not an even power of 2, you must arrange byes (free matches).

19 The tournament takes a short time; a winner is selected quickly. It is good for limited facilities. It is good for a large number of entries. The tournament is exciting for both players & spectators.

20 It emphasizes elimination. The eventual winner is not always the best entrant. The defeated finalist is not always second- best.
