White boarding – Immune Response
Directions: Complete each of the steps below on a large white board Arrange the diagram pieces in order on your whiteboard. These are the three phases of an immune response. Use tape to secure the images. Determine which steps (1-7) match with each of the three immune response phases. Write each of these steps onto the white board, grouping them with the correct phase. Time: 15 min

White board Share-Out Compare and Contrast Critical Thinking
Do all of the groups share a similar arrangement and categorization of the immune response steps? Why do you think so? Critical Thinking Would you suspect that all pathogens cause the immune system to respond with these seven steps in this specific order? Why or why not? Once we get sick from a pathogen, does this mean that we are now immuned from that sickness or disease?

Directions: Read through the rubric, specifically the “3 and 4” column. Is there any unfamiliar language being used? Do you need clarification on a specific criteria?

Feedback Block Party! (7 min)
Directions Step 1: Silently and independently look over your comments and rate the group 1-4. Step 2: Now, as a group, each person share out one grow and one glow of the presentation (use alphabetical order of last name to determine order of share-out) Step 3: Deliberate and determine a final group rating of 1-4.

Reflection and Summary (8 min)
Presenting Group 1. Look over feedback and peer ratings 2. Write a ½ page reflection using the metacognition questions Pick at least 3 questions Audience 1. Write a summary of the presentation, stating whether or not you agree with the argument made by the group as it relates to: “Me” or “Society”, who is in control of my health if I contract cholera? Use the “Rubric for Summary” as a reference.

Peer Editing (5 min) Directions
1. Collect your summaries and exchange them with another group in the class. 2. Using the “Rubric for Summary”, provide feedback to a peer ***Presenters: You will engage in mini group reflection talk with the teacher about your presentation
