7 Matriculation Creating legal status with the University – for the first time Collective enrolment: 29 August Matriculation in Neptun: until 1 September Active (tuition fee, attending courses, taking exams, etc) OR passive (no tuition fee, no courses, no exams) In the upcoming semesters you need only to enroll (set the status) Guide to matriculation on the website (under guidelines) Print out the matriculation card, and bring it to the RO. If you have a problem → to: (print screen) within the deadline If you want to start with a passive semester, you still need to matriculate!

9 Course registration Through Neptun: Signing up for the subject and for the course (lecture, seminar, practice if available, to a specific group Taking up/dropping obligatory courses: 1 September Taking up elective and optional courses, criterion requirements: 29 August Dropping elective and optional courses, criterion requirements: 5 September Courses based on each other → see prerequisites If you have any problem → to: (print screen) within the deadline

11 Educational matters You will have another presentation day in October (exact dates later): Detailed informations about curriculum and exams etc… Please attend!! Not obligatory, but highly recommended.

12 Studies: A general overview

13 Types of courses Obligatory subjects: a course-unit the completion of which is required from each and every student of the programme (80% of the total number of credits) Elective and Optional subjects: (15% + 5%= for General Medicine and for Dentistry) Criterion requirement: a requirement to be fulfilled obligatorily to which no credit is allocated. (summer practices, physical education, language requirement) Total number of credits on General Medicine: 360 Total number of credits on Dentistry: 300

Signing up for courses in time Follow the recommended curriculum Prepare regularly for your classes Schedule your exams for the beginning of the exam period

18 The School Year School year ( ) 10 months: September – July Exact dates always on the website of the RO (Announcements) Fall Semester weeks: September – January Spring Semester weeks: February – July 1. Registration period: 2 weeks enrolling/matriculation, booking courses 1. Registration period: last week of previous exam period enrolling, booking courses 2. Instruction period: 14 weeks classes, mid-term attendance, papers… 2. Instruction period: 14 weeks 1 week extra: Easter holiday classes, mid-term attendance, papers… 3. Exam period: 7 weeks exams, exams, exams 3. Exam period: 7 weeks exams, exams, exams

From 3 September, 2018 (Monday) RO can give it personally Authorization on paper or by (registered address from Neptun)

22 Completing a course End of semester signature (testifying attendance in course) only electronic signature in Neptun; if denied, you cannot take exam! Absence from less than 15% of the classes of the course-unit cannot be condemned for absence (unless the course director informed the students about stricter expectations in the course description or in writing at the beginning of the semester) between 15 and 25%, course director shall decide on accepting the semester reaches 25% (for any reason, with or without a certified excuse) you cannot be granted entry to examination. The course director can refuse to give electronic signature for other reasons announced at the beginning of the semester – e.g. missing a mid-term task or assignment – and can allow the student to make up for it until the end of the second week of the examination period. - See conditions/expectations for acceptance of the semester.

24 Tuition fee To be paid for active semesters.
Once you activated your semester and request late passivation later → 40% + pro rata in every month Pay by bank transfer, via Neptun (Simple pay) or at the cashier in USD notification about payment details appr. 2-3 weeks before semester start by the Finance Department (not the RO) Proof to be submitted to the RO Tuition fee contract later.

25 Don’t forget  Group compositions will be published on the lecture room doors after all the presentations today Tomorrow (29 August) bring your Neptun username + password, and your passport with you Be at the meeting point on time Bring every missing document to Student Service Center this week Print out the schedule, timetable and curriculum for yourselves (it is a huge help)
