Function: The Superfund Act was originally created in direct response to the Love Canal disaster in Niagara Falls, N.Y. After the very real threat of hazardous and toxic waste sites, the Superfund Act’s purpose was to provide the funds to cleanup such sites contaminated with pollutants and chemicals as well as hold those who contaminated areas responsible for all the cleanup costs associated/needed.
Environmental Issues Affected? Land/Air Pollution, Environmental Degradation, Overpopulation, etc.

Agency/Group Responsible for Regulation and Enforcement: The EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) is responsible for the regulation and enforcement of the CERCLA.
