The bridge was built in 1998 and opened 2002 It was 229 meters long with 2 lanes and was one of two parallell bridges The bridge had 6 spans – maximum span length 39 meters 02/01/2019

Why did the quick clay collapse?

A report from the Norwegian Water Resources and Energy Directorate and the Public roads administration concludes that a stone filling of 3500 m3 probably is the direct cause to the landslide This is still under police investigation. No one is accused for anything. 02/01/2019

In December 2013, VG – the main afternoon newspaper in Norway – asked for access to data in the Norwegian bridge management system Brutus This is not restricted information. We had to give them what they asked for, but we needed time to register the latest inspections and to make a report – We agreed on 9th of February When Skjeggestad bridge collapsed 2nd of February it was increased focus on inspection and condition data in Brutus 02/01/2019
