Network Search & Visualization
Volunteer: Caroline Lahti UC Santa Barbara 3rd Year, Mathematical Sciences Mentor: Dr. Ralucca Gera Department of Mathematics, NPS Project Dates: 7/20– 8/12 Results , Accomplishments , and Next Steps (above) Implemented community detection on NPS network visualization website, using JavaScript and HTML/CSS. (left) Programmed an algorithm (Multilayered Connotation Discovery Algorithm, or MultiConn) that successfully searches through a large network. The algorithm’s efficiency is comparable to that of previously established searches; however, MultiConn is currently in a period of refinement. Project Objective and Research Approach Aim: Develop algorithm to efficiently discover nodes of interest hidden in a dense, multilayered social network Data: Social networks of various sizes and types Methodology: Construct one multilayered social network and run unique algorithm to discover predetermined nodes of interest, using Python, NetworkX, and Gephi Distribution type Type
