I.A.N. - E.L.A. Terms Add the following vocabulary terms to their correct pages within your I.A.N. You DO NOT need to write the page number next to the vocabulary word. Use the glossary in the back of your SpringBoard textbook to define each term. I.A.N. – Annotations Key – First Period Only Trim the key. Glue it to page 49. Add the title “Annotations Key”. Put the date in the upper, right-hand corner. Add this item to your “Reading Strategies” T.O.C. for page 49.

SpringBoard Unit 1- Activity 1.1 (Continued) Read the instructions for “Unpacking the Embedded Assessment 1” on page 4. Then, turn to page 48 to view the embedded assessment #1, “Writing a Personal Narrative”. Let’s review what’s expected BEFORE we complete the task later. Now, flip back to page 4 and paraphrase (write in your own words) what they expect you to do when you get to the embedded assessment.

Reading Portfolio First, place your last name, first name on the tab. Example: Squarepants, SpongeBob Then, add “Reading Portfolio” to the front cover of the folder. This reading portfolio will stay in class and you will use it almost every day.

Independent Reading First, place your “Notes for Reading Independently” inside of your Reading Portfolio (folder). Each day, you should: Bring a book of your choice (on your Lexile level – No “Cat in the Hat”-types of books) from either the L.M.C. or our classroom library; Expect to read for minutes a day; Complete 1-2 boxes of this chart.
