What are they ? “…are simply the total catches by species for a fishing fleet covering a calendar year“ Catch => METRIC TONS “Number of active vessels by size class” also required ACE are a WCPFC reporting obligation

must be provided for the other areas in some cases. For example, ALB and SWO stocks are separated by the equator

Why ? Concise representation of actual catch Concise indication of the trends over time Indication of all data collected in the tuna fishery Snapshot comparison between years, fleets, gears, fisheries, etc. Used to produce economic indicators (value of catch) (as per slide)
