2 SBIRT Training Grant & the Current Program
ASU Received SBIRT Student Training Grant, Fall, 2015, began Spring, 2016 Trained faculty Community Training Explored this Learning Collaborative & Kognito Developed our own modules & integrated SBIRT into our College

3 Goals & Objectives Goal 1: To establish an on going inter-professional training program to undergraduate and graduate students in health sciences to successfully utilize Screening, Brief Intervention and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT). Goal 2: Ensure sustainability of SBIRT at Appalachian and increase practice of SBIRT throughout NC to increase the number of successful referrals for individuals who suffer from a substance use disorder, including those in regions of health disparity.

6 Challenges Community (field instructors) didn’t “get it”

7 Rediscovering the Learning Collaborative
Nursing discovered the opportunity for the Track C program for this Learning Collaborative Online educational needs Track D (move SBIRT forward?) Confidence Learn from others for the sake of learning & to modify our program, if needed

8 Utilization Some students in the program in the Spring completed Track C voluntarily Some students in nursing were required to complete Track C Track D to Field Instructors (ongoing) Overall good feedback: Easy to use Good review Increased confidence Navigation concerns
