ART MRS. DURDEN

Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up. ~PICASSO

EXPECTATIONS Students are expected to attend this class daily and participate. It is the students responsibility to make up missed coursework. EVERYDAY is art make-up. WEDNESDAYS are my make-up and detention days. If students are habitually off task and causing others to be off task they will be sent to the office and a parent or guardian will be contacted.

After 2 tardiness warnings, students will receive a detention at the teachers convenience. If this detention is missed by the student, the students name will be forwarded to the office and the student will then serve an Office detention.

Students will take care of the art room. Pick up after yourself and assist others in clean up. If you drop something pick it up and discard it in the trash can.

If you make a mistake,DO NOT throw your paper away and start over. They invented something for this occurrence… its called an ERASER!!!! Use it!

Materials will be handled and used with care or they will be unavailable for individual use in the classroom.

DEROGATORY JAR Students will refrain from abusive or derogatory language. If such language is heard by the teacher, the student must put 25 cents in the derogatory jar. If students do not have 25 cents on them, there name will be put on the board. They will have 24 hours to come up with it or they will have a detention the following Monday.

Bullying WILL NOT be tolerated in any shape or form. There will be no warnings. Students will be sent out of the room to fill out a disciplinary form that will need to be signed by a guardian.

The subject of any students work will not be offensive morally, sexually, or racially and should be without reference to drugs and alcohol.

Cell phones, iPods, and hats will NOT be allowed in class. All such listed items will be confiscated at first offense.

Bathroom Pass The bathroom can only be used in the first and last 5 minutes of class. You must sign out and sign back in each time you leave the classroom. If you do not fill out the Bathroom log correctly your bathroom privileges will be revoked until further notice.

Mrs. Durdens Pet peeves Throwing ANYTHING in the classroom. Wasting the art supplies and paper Ignorance (BE SELF AWARE!) When student look for things with their mouth instead out their eyes. When students act helpless. Yelling or talking loudly across the classroom… Asking question that are completely unrelated to what we are discussing. When I ask you if you have any questions, I mean about the art project…not life in general.

MRS. DURDENS C.A.R.E.S POLICY CHOICE: YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF YOUR ACTIONS. YOU ALWAYS HAVE A CHOICE, BUT WITH THAT CHOICE COME CONSEQUENCES. THINK BEFORE YOU ACT. TAKE A DEEP BREATH AND WEIGH YOUR OPTIONS. WE ALL HAVE SOMETHING TO LOSE.

MRS. DURDENS C.A.R.E.S POLICY ATTITUDE: TIME AND AGAIN YOU WILL BE ASKED TO DO SOMETHING THAT YOU DO NOT LIKE OR THINK IS WORTHLESS. BE MATURE. WORK THROUGH IT. YOU MIGHT FIND THAT GETTING THERE IS HALF THE FUN!

MRS. DURDENS C.A.R.E.S POLICY RESPECT. THERE IS NO ONE IN THIS ROOM THAT IS ANY BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE BE RESPECTFUL OF YOURSELF, YOUR ENVIRONMENT, YOUR FELLOW CLASSMATES, AND YOUR TEACHER. TREAT OTHERS THE WAY YOU WANT TO BE TREATED.

MRS. DURDENS C.A.R.E.S POLICY EFFORT: IF YOU PUT IN YOUR 100% EFFORT YOU WILL NEVER FAIL. EVERY ACCOMPLISHMENT STARTS WITH THE DECISION TO TRY. WE LEARN MORE THROUGH OUR MISTAKES THAT WE WORK THROUGH, THAN WE DO BY GETTING THE ANSWER RIGHT THE FIRST TIME. THIS TEACHES US TO NEVER GIVE UP AND THAT IS WHAT SUCCESS IS ALL ABOUT.

MRS. DURDENS C.A.R.E.S POLICY SAFETY. EVERY STUDENT HAS THE RIGHT TO A SAFE AND SECURE CLASSROOM. YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO JEAOPARDIZE THAT IN ANY WAY. THINK. ASK YOURSELF IS IT WORTH IT? WOULD I WANT THIS DONE TO ME? THINK AND CHOOSE WISELY. I WILL NOT TOLERATE, NOR SHOULD YOU, ANY BEHAVIOR THAT TAKES AWAY FROM THE SAFETY OF THIS CLASSROOM.

ONE PHRASE THAT IS NOT SPOKEN IN THIS CLASSROOM… I CANT DRAW Consequence is 10 push-ups for each infraction!
