1 NEWTON'S FIRST LAW OF MOTION BY ABBY, AYLA AND HARLEY.

2 DEFINITION OF THE FIRST LAW. An object at rest will remain at rest unless acted on by an unbalanced force. An object in motion continues in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless acted upon by an unbalanced force. This law is often called the law of inertia.

3 EXPLANATION Professor Mac Explains Newton's First Law of Motion - YouTube A moving object will keep moving at the same speed, in the same direction unless an unbalanced force acts on the moving object. For example if the skateboarder was skating along an even surface and suddenly hits a rock, the skateboard would suddenly stop moving. An object will not move unless an unbalanced force acts on it. For example a skateboarder skating along will eventually stop moving if the skater does not keep pushing off the ground.

4 HOW AND WHY ITS APPLIED AND RELEVANT IN SPORT This is relevant in sport because if the object at rest does not move the object will not go any where and the game will not be played. For example: Newton's first law applies in sports such as golf. The golf ball will not move unless it has been hit by a golf club. So the golf ball is the object at rest and the golf club is the unbalanced force.
