Prospective applicants should: Have sufficient understanding of the application process for them to take the next step. Understand some of the factors that contribute to successfully getting a place. Apply this understanding in a way that helps them to maximise the quality of their application.

Qualifications GCSE English & maths grade C+ (or equivalent)?
Good honours degree with sufficient content in a related subject (or suitable for Subject Knowledge Enhancement) Entry is also subject to DBS check and medical clearance

Personal qualities Enthusiasm and passion for your subject as well as sound subject knowledge Experience of and commitment to working with young people Professional attributes including leadership roles and responsibilities Some personal rationale for wanting to teach Good standard of written English

School experience Ideally 1-2 weeks in a secondary school department observing your subject If you have not had this experience at the point of application or interview it may be a condition of your offer.

Referees Choose referees who know you personally and can comment on your suitability to teach as well as your subject knowledge strengths. If you have not yet graduated or are a recent graduate, include your personal tutor at university. Inform them as missing references will hold up your application form.
