When to use infinitive/-ing form When verbs are followed by the -ing form, they tend to refer to a GENERAL activity. BUT When these verbs are followed by the infinitive, they tend to refer to PARTICULAR occasions. Ex: Which sport do you like? * I like swimming. (In general) * I like to swim in the mornings. (Particular situation)

Full Forms Negative Dont = do not Doesnt = does not I dont like swimming. I do not like swimming. She doesnt like swimming. She does not like swimming.

Short responses Yes, I/you/we/they do. / No, I/you/we/they dont. Yes, he/she does. / No, he/she doesnt. Do we listen? Yes, we do. OR No, we dont. Does he listen? Yes, he does. OR No, he doesnt.
