1 Level 2 Digital media skills
Week one

2 Session One This session will be used to set up their wordpress and to discuss in detail the route of this trimester. From now until half term they will be delveloping a board game and understanding its conventions. They will develop a design document and a physical version of the board game. As part of this board game, they will explain in their design document how this will be transferred into a retro style endless runner game. The first week back after half term they will pitch their design to the panel and if they are given the green light, they will begin the process of making the endless runner

3 Session Two - Dave You are going to create a game from one piece of paper. Here are the rules: You can only use one piece of A4, but both sides can be used. The game can be single player or multi player. You are allowed to asked the players to do anything with the piece of paper (fold it, tear it, write on it, anything) as long as it still only uses one sheet of paper. You can use any materials or software you like to produce your prints, photoshop, pencils, markers, anything you like? You can make dice to go with it, if your game needs it You can make counters for your players to use.

4 Paper Game Things to think about: What do you want your players to do?
What is the theme of the game? What type of game is it? Think about the games you know that do not need a computer.

5 Session 3 - Dave Introduction to the design document.
During this session we will be looking at developing ideas to create this board game. What is the objective of the game? Who are the characters within the game? What are the obstacles in the game?

6 Session four - Adam In this session, the students need to look at what types of board games are out there and find four that a similar to their idea. From each of these four they need to identify the following: What could help them with their own game? Without playing the game, what did they like about the game? What type of game is it? (Puzzle, mystery, logic) etc
