What are some causes of air pollution? e.g. car industry/heavy industry: burning coals/fossil fuels, toxic emissions in the air e.g. driving cars: emit toxic gases in the air: carbon dioxide CO2, sulfur dioxide S02 e.g. in winter, the colder air makes it hard to blow away the polluted air How is it affecting your own life or people around you? What are some other effects you know? Respiratory system: breathing system Pet peeve (informal): something a person is annoyed at Causes: 1) burning coals; burning fossil fuels; 2) car emissions; 3) natural forest fires; Your life: 1)pm 2.5 particles clog blood vessels, increase risks of disorders in the nervous systems, cardivovascular diseases, heart diseases, lung diseases (asthma),3) lead (Pb), a toxic substance, can hurt the nervous system. life: 1) feel depressed when seeing gloomy skies; 2)can’t go outside often for outdoor activities; 3) wear masks when going outside; 4) limit outdoor activities

Individuals: Use public transportation such as subway, avoiding driving own cars Greenhouse effect, buy more organic products Companies: Develop technology to reduce pollution, e.g. materials that are less harmful, find solutions to reuse emitted gases Governments: strict laws to prohibit industries’ emissions of polluted gases; provide more convenient public transportation (eg.
