1 “Dual Olympic Bids Approved”

2 It's official, the 2024 Olympics are coming to Paris – and four years later they'll be in Los Angeles in the first "double allocation" of the Olympic contests in modern history. The International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced it had approved the allocations by vote Wednesday. "This historic double allocation is a'win-win-win' situation for the city of Paris, the city of Los Angeles and the IOC," said IOC President Thomas Bach. Bach declared the vote unanimous after a "show of hands" count raised no objections. The vote, in addition to setting the Olympic schedule for 11 years, breaks the IOC's tradition of selecting host cities one at a time. "Few governments want to risk the billions in cost overruns that have become synonymous with recent Olympics. That's why the IOC is considering awarding dual bids," said Bergen at time. Paris said it didn't want to host in will be the 100th anniversary of the 1924 Paris summer games. This will be the third Olympics for both cities, and the Los Angeles games will be the first Summer Olympiad in the U.S. since 1996.

3 In Other News Prepare to say goodbye to Cassini. In the early morning hours of September 15, NASA's 13-year mission exploring Saturn and its moons will come to an end as the spacecraft deliberately dives into Saturn's atmosphere and plunges itself into the planet. Even then, Cassini will transmit new data about the planet's composition as long as its antenna remains pointed toward Earth, with the assist from small thrusters. No spacecraft has ever been so close to Saturn. If you need a job, there are millions open right now. Job openings in the United States reached a record high in July at 6.17 million, according to Labor Department data published Tuesday. Employers continue to struggle with finding workers to fill all the open positions. Such a high number of job openings is a mix of good and bad news. The good: Employers are hiring. When the Great Recession was at its worst in 2009, job openings fell to 2.2 million, an all-time low. The bad: Employers can't find anyone. From farms to construction sites to small businesses, employers report mass shortages of workers. Many experts say unemployed Americans don't have the skills needed.
