1. Mission Statement
The Academy is an association of professionals of all disciplines both academic and clinical, who have an interest in eating disorders. The objectives are: 
Communication of information regarding all aspects of eating disorders to Academy members and other professional. This is to occur both by and through meetings. 
Develop a collegial culture of fellowship (Koinonia) through the sharing and discussion of experience, knowledge and ideas. 
Encourage contributions by all disciplines and respect for different theories and modalities of treatment.
Aid in the development of a greater amount of research of all types in the field.
Promote a better understanding of patients with eating disorders, and of their management by all professionals.
Create a more helpful liaison and sharing of ideas with patient and carer groups, in a spirit of cooperative partnership.
Advocate for adequate resources for the research and treatment of patients with eating disorders.
Further the development of guidelines for adequate training in the management of eating disorders in all professions.
