21 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
25. Re: Dan. 11:26 -- What happened to Ptolemy Philometor? Daniel11:26 Yea, they that feed of the portion of his meat shall destroy him (Ptolemy Philometor), and his army shall overflow: and many shall fall down slain. 27 And both these kings' hearts shall be to do mischief, and they shall speak lies at one table; but it shall not prosper: for yet the end shall be at the time appointed. His courtiers turned against him in favour of Ptolemy VIII Euergetes (Physcon), and drove him out of the kingdom. 26. Re: Dan. 11:27 -- What is the significance of the phrase "for yet the end shall be at the time appointed"? Shows direct intervention by God's angels because of the set time, thus the actions of Antiochus were changed according to the Divine Plan.

22 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
27. Re: Dan. 11:28 -- What is the meaning when it says, "and he shall do exploits"? Daniel11:28 Then shall he return into his land with great riches; and his heart shall be against the holy covenant; and he shall do exploits, and return to his own land. 29 At the time appointed he shall return, and come toward the south; but it shall not be as the former, or as the latter. The word "exploits" is not in the Hebrew. It simply means that Antiochus shall do as he pleases in taking Jerusalem and restoring Menelaus to the Priest's office. 28. Re: Dan. 11:29 -- What is meant by the "appointed time"? From v. 27 there is a definite period in God's plan wherein this was to be accomplished.

23 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers

24 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
29. Re: Dan. 11:30 -- Who were the ships of Chittim? Daniel11:30 For the ships of Chittim shall come against him: therefore he shall be grieved, and return and have indignation against the holy covenant: … The name denotes Cyprus. (Gensenius - "in a wider acceptation, the name came comprehend the islands and coasts of the Mediterranean.") Rome in its victory over Macedonia had hired the ships of Chittim to transport its army to Egypt to confront Antiochus. At this point, Rome enters as the leading power. The context carries a further fulfilment first with Rome and continues to the time of the end.

25 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
30. Re: Dan. 11:31 -- What was the abomination that maketh desolate? Daniel11:31 And arms shall stand on his part, and they shall pollute the sanctuary of strength, and shall take away the daily sacrifice, and they shall place the abomination that maketh desolate. 8251 "shiqquivts" disgusting, espec. idolatrous. This desolating abomination was first the work of Antiochus Epiphanes who erected an altar to Zeus upon the altar of burnt-offering and offered swine flesh. This cause of desolation is descriptive of the work of Antiochus IV, and he becomes a type of the work of the Romans in AD 70 and the Moslems in 691 AD.

26 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
31. Re: Dan. 11:33 -- What are the two fulfilments of: "And they that shall understand among the people shall instruct many"? Daniel 11:33 And they that understand among the people shall instruct many: yet they shall fall by the sword, and by flame, by captivity, and by spoil, many days. At the time of the Maccabee's, is one fulfilment. At the time of apostles is another.

27 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
32. Re: Dan. 11:34,35 --What are the fulfilments in these verses? Daniel11:34 Now when they shall fall, they shall be holpen with a little help: but many shall cleave to them with flatteries. 35 And some of them of understanding shall fall, to try them, and to purge, and to make them white, even to the time of the end: because it is yet for a time appointed. Partial fulfilment under the period of Judas Maccabee and his brothers that followed him. Full fulfilment from Nerva in AD 98 through Diocletian through AD This is described in the first five Seals in Rev. 6:1-11, but the text continues; "even to the time of the end" when God will cause His kingdom to come, Mt. 6:10.

28 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers

29 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
33. Re: Dan. 11:36 -- Who is the king? Daniel 11:36 And the king shall do according to his will; and he shall exalt himself, and magnify himself above every god, and shall speak marvellous things against the God of gods, and shall prosper till the indignation be accomplished: for that that is determined shall be done. Antiochus Epiphanes but here he has almost faded and it is the Papal "little horn" of Dan. 7:20,25;8:23 that is mainly seen.

30 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
34. What is meant that in v.37 "he will not regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women"? (Daniel11:37 Neither shall he regard the God of his fathers, nor the desire of women, nor regard any god: for he shall magnify himself above all.) Antiochus has completely faded and it is the Papal "little horn“ of Daniel 7 who worships not the pagan gods and whose priests do not marry.

31 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
35. What is the “god of forces” in verse 38? Daniel11:38 But in his estate shall he honour the God of forces: and a god whom his fathers knew not shall he honour with gold, and silver, and with precious stones, and pleasant things. This describes the worship of "saints" who are thought to be the guardians forces of every aspect of life.

32 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
36. What does it mean to “divide the land for gain” in verse 39? Daniel11:39 Thus shall he do in the most strong holds with a strange god, whom he shall acknowledge and increase with glory: and he shall cause them to rule over many, and shall divide the land for gain. Each priest and bishop has his territory, diocese and from these money is poured into headquarters. It is through these "eyes" (Dan. 7:8) that this system sees to maintain its influence.

33 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
37. Re: Dan. 11:40 -- What time is the "time of the end?" Daniel 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: and the king of the north shall come against him like a whirlwind, with chariots, and with horsemen, and with many ships; and he shall enter into the countries, and shall overflow and pass over. It is the same time in Daniel 12:4. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

34 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
38. Re: Dan. 11:40 -- Who is the "King of the South"? This still isn’t obvious today unless the “time of the end” includes WW1 when Britain as the King of the South dried up the Turkish empire. Part of the difficulty is WW1 may be a partial fulfilment and there is yet a full fulfilment yet to develop. The “time of the end” in Dan.11:40 is defined when knowledge would be increased and people will run to and fro. Daniel 11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him: … Daniel12:4 … seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. The partial fulfilment may have been Great Britain who pushed at Turkey in WW1. The full fulfilment may be the "cruel lord and fierce king" that shall rule over Egypt (Isa.19:4) who will push the king of the North. Isaiah 19:4 And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

35 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
39. Re: Dan. 11:40 -- Who is the "King of the North"? Russia, who will control Turkey completely drying up the Euphrates, Rev.16:12. This is yet to happen. REV 16:12 And the sixth angel poured out his vial upon the great river Euphrates; and the water thereof was dried up, that the way of the kings of the east might be prepared. EZE 38:4 And I will turn thee back, and put hooks into thy jaws, and I will bring thee forth, and all thine army, horses and horsemen, all of them clothe with all sorts of armour, even a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords: The "turning back" is after Russia has taken over Egypt which is still future at Armageddon.

36 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
40. Re: Dan. 11:40 -- Who is the "him" that both the "king of the North" and the "king of the South" "push" and come "against"? Daniel11:40 And at the time of the end shall the king of the south push at him (king of the North): and the king of the north shall come against him (king of the South) … This interpretation has yet to develop. Alternative interpretation = Ottoman Empire for 1st “him” and Turkey for 2nd “him”. This is thought a partial fulfilment for Rev.16:12 says Turkey is completely dried up. 40b. Dan. 11:40 -- Who in future is "the King of the South? Because of Ezekiel 38:13 it is thought to be Britain and the young lions (British Commonwealth) and Arabia, Eze.38:13. Eze.38:13 Sheba, and Dedan, and the merchants of Tarshish, with all the young lions thereof, shall say unto thee, Art thou come to take a spoil? Because of Isaiah 19 it is thought the “cruel lord” of Egypt will in some major way infuriate "Gog" who with Europe without Britain will come against the King of the South as a whirlwind.

37 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
41. Re: Dan. 11:41 -- Why does Jordan escape? Daniel11:41 He shall enter also into the glorious land, and many countries shall be overthrown: but these shall escape out of his hand, even Edom, and Moab, and the chief of the children of Ammon. The Goggian confederacy comes with many ships, plus in mentioning Israel (“glorious land”) shows that the Goggian army comes right down the Mediterranean Coast and therefore misses Jordan, (Edom and Moab).

38 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
42. Re: Dan 11:43 -- Why does it mention that the Libyans and Ethiopians will support him and Persians are not mentioned? Daniel11:43 But he shall have power over the treasures of gold and of silver, and over all the precious things of Egypt: and the Libyans and the Ethiopians shall be at his steps. (Eze. 38:5) It is felt Libya and Ethiopia previously are allied to the king of the North. This has yet to happen.

39 Daniel chapter 11 Questions and Answers
43. What are the "tidings out of the East and North"? Daniel11:44 But tidings out of the east and out of the north shall trouble him: therefore he shall go forth with great fury to destroy, and utterly to make away many. 45 And he shall plant the tabernacles of his palace between the seas in the glorious holy mountain; yet he shall come to his end, and none shall help him. At this point God is in Egypt and Christ with the saints are “east” and “north” of Egypt, (Deu.33:2,3). 44. Where does he plant his tabernacles? In Jerusalem. The Goggian confederacy takes Jerusalem (Zech. 14:1,2; 13:8) and 2/3 of Israel is destroyed. 45. What is his end? The Goggian Confederacy will be destroyed upon the mountains of Israel. (Eze. 38:22 through chapter 39:16)

42 What is the memory verse in Daniel chapter 4?
Daniel 4:17 This matter is by the decree of the watchers, and the demand by the word of the holy ones: to the intent that the living may know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will, and setteth up over it the basest of men.
