International Observe the Moon Night Website Redesign
The new International Observe the Moon Night website helped make the 2018 event a record-breaking success! The website serves as a hub for event hosts and lunar observers around the world to register their participation in the NASA event and access lunar science information, activities, and multimedia resources (see below). The 8 previous years of the International Observe the Moon Night program had an average of 567 registered events. This year, over 1000 event hosts and lunar observers registered and 15,000 users visited the website on October 20th! Screenshot of moon.nasa.gov/observe In the spring of 2018, the Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Public Engagement Team from NASA Goddard Space Flight Center transferred content for the International Observe the Moon Night website from observethemoonnight.org to moon.nasa.gov/observe, managed by the Jet Propulsion Laboratory Planetary Communications team. This partnership proved very successful. Web developers at MooreBoeck and web managers at JPL provided expertise on user experience design while the LRO Public Engagement team reworked existing content and created new resources for the streamlined platform.
