2 Howard Bison Mentoring Program
The Howard University Alumni Association - Atlanta Club would like to extend an invitation to your 11th and 12th graders to participate in this year's Howard Bison Mentoring Program. The program, which will begin mid September, runs through the remainder of the school year with students assigned on a first come basis. 4 State Student Advisory Council
State School Superintendent Richard Woods is seeking middle and high school students to serve on his Student Advisory Council. These students will meet with Superintendent Woods to discuss the impact of state policies in the classroom, along with other issues related to education, and will serve as the Superintendent’s ambassadors to their respective schools. Members will also engage in community service projects to benefit Georgia students and schools. Application: See Ms. Watts, Counseling Office Selected students will be contacted via . All students can visit on September 10 at 10 a.m. to see whether they have been selected. High school students will meet October 11, November 29, February 6, and May 14 in Atlanta.

From now until September 27, Sallie Mae is accepting nominations for the Bridging the Dream Scholarship. This year, they will be awarding a new group of inspiring high school students with $25,000 each. Do you know a high school junior or senior ·     who works hard and inspires others; ·     has an interesting story to tell; and ·     is gifted or skilled in a way you think is outstanding? See Ms. Watts in the counseling office to be nominated.

9 Horatio Alger National Scholarships
Due: Oct 25th Amount: $25,000 Must be involved in co-curricular and community activities & demonstrate integrity and perseverance in overcoming adversity; critical financial need 2.0 GPA

10 Henry County Scholarship Foundation
Due end of January; Award amount is $500-$1,000; The application is simple: official transcript, financial information, a short essay, etc. Class of 2019 application will open soon

Woodland High School has partnered with Kaplan to offer SAT test prep classes! The classes will begin on Saturday, September 29th and run every Saturday through November 17th (9am - 12pm) in preparation for the December 1st SAT exam. The cost is $334 - $417 (depending on the number of students who sign up), so encourage your friends to join!!!! There are only 25 slots, and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis!!! This opportunity is open to ALL grades!
