Cost-Benefit Analysis
Ngā Haerenga Great Rides Cost-Benefit Analysis Nick Davis September 2017
2
Why a Cost-Benefit Analysis?
It is a way to organise information in a consistent and systematic way. It reduces the degree of uncertainty that would otherwise exist around benefit estimates. It identifies all the economic (including social and environmental) impacts of decisions on people, whether or not they can be quantified. It is one part of the business case that is considered alongside other objectives desired by the programme. A Cost-Benefit Analysis allows us to make good investment decisions
3
What Benefits can Great Rides Deliver?
There are a number of benefits that are attributed to the Great Rides. These benefits are at a national and a regional level. All benefits can (and should) be described; not all can be quantified.
4
What benefits are Measured?
Four benefits will be captured in the Cost-Benefit Analysis. These benefits are identified and quantified in dollar terms. Jobs will be measured separately in terms of Full Time Equivalents.
