DIFFUSION: The process by which molecules of a substance move from areas of high concentration of that substance to areas of low concentration of that substance.

OSMOSIS: The diffusion of water into or out of the cell. This keeps the cell from drying out. The cell membrane is selectively permeable, it allows only certain material in or out.
