Gravitational contraction creates great pressure causing the core of a developing star to heat up.

4. Formation of the Planets
Small bodies formed from the gasses – planetesimals
Planetesimals joined together through collisions and gravitational force to form protoplanets
Collisions of protoplanets and plantesimals added to the masses of the protoplanets.
Eventually, the protoplanets became large enough to form the planets (gas and solid) and the moons
