Key Skill Explain actions undertaken by individuals & groups with respect to conflicts over the use of OE Analyse methods used by individuals & groups with respect to conflicts Evaluate decision-making processes relating to conflicting interests over the use of OE

Conflict Disagreement or argument, incompatibility between two or more opinions Conflicts occur because different groups/individuals have different interests and beliefs about how we use OE OE as a resource for humans own needs Vs Conservation/ protecting the environment

Different users & conflicts
Skiers vs snow-boarders Vs Cross-country skiers Fate of OE often depends on outcomes of negotiations that occur between land users and land managers

Interest groups Individuals and groups with similar values may form an interest group with the aim of promoting their views Eg Save Bastion Point, TWS, MOAC Single issue is formed in response to a particular concern cf ACF/TWS Government & their agencies are NOT interest groups

Environmental campaigns against the destruction of the environment often become protracted due to passion, dedication and persistence of modern environmentalists whose values about the use of OE fundamentally differ from those with commercial interests.
