1 Volcanoes By Garrett Jasnicki 3/11/10

2 Shield volcano A broad, gently sloping volcano created by repeated lava flows during quiet eruptions.

3 Composite volcano A composite volcano is a tall, cone-shaped mountain. It has layers of lava rock and ash from previous eruptions.

4 A steep, cone-shaped mountain.
Cinder cone volcano A steep, cone-shaped mountain.

5 Caldera A caldera is where a volcano had it’s chamber and pipes drained from an eruption. Eventually, it collapses and leaves a caldera.

6 Hot springs and geysers
A hot spring is where water is near underground magma. That is what makes the hot spring boil. A geyser is where there is an underground pocket of water above a pocket of magma and the water boils and goes shooting to the surface and bursting into air.

7 Lava plateau Some volcanic eruptions form high, flat areas instead of mountains.
