Country ruled by a single leader Leader not elected May take and keep power by force Absolute control over citizens and their lives

Government plans and controls the economy Single party holds power Claims that all goods are equally shared by the people

7 Communism…example China under Chairman Mao

8 Socialism = Increased government involvement
Similar to communism A social system based on equality and social justice When a major part of the economy is owned by the state

10 Totalitarianism = Government everywhere
Centralized government that regulates every aspect of state and private behavior Often associated with large-scale, organized violence

Government by divine guidance Government leaders are members of the clergy Legal system based on religious law

Authority in a king or queen There are different types of monarchies Can be very powerful or just a ceremonial figurehead Historical ties

16 Anarchy = No government
Disorder Chaos Complete freedom without government Example: Somalia
