I. Political Party A. Political Beliefs 1. Liberal (Left) [Democrats / Conservative (Right)[Republican] a. Liberal Beliefs: i. government activism (solves problems): - tax wealthy for gov. programs - economic control - regulate business - “equality” b. Conservative Beliefs: i. government passivism (threatens “liberty”) - state gov. powers - laisse-faire - lower taxes = greater wealth (trickle down econ.)

B. Social Beliefs: 1. Liberals: (New Dealers) a. environmental protection b. aiding poor c. big business = evil d. NO GUNS! e. greater social rights: (marijuana, abortion, etc.) 2. Conservatives: a. military defense b. 2nd Amendment c. Religion/ Social Morality (Fundamentalism)
