2 New reality for Iceland Environmental, infrastructure and Aviation authorities.
Keflavik Airport classified as a major airport. In 2016 flight movements crossed the limit. Defination major airport according to EU directive 2002/49.: “… A civil airport, which has more than movements per year (take-off or a landing), excluding those purely for training purposes on light aircraft;

3 Regulations which apply for noise and airport.
Regulation nr. 1000/2005. Noise mapping and action plan. Regulation nr. 724/2008. Noise. Regulation nr. 666/2015. Limitation on operation in airport because of noise pollution.

5 Noise and health Burden of disease from environmental noise – quantification of healthy life years lost in Europe - WHO 2011. Noise can lead to health related matters like: Sleep disturbance. Hearing loss. More stress and annoyance (impatience) Tinnitus. Tiredness. Less motion. Cardiovascular diseases. Premature death.

6 Regulation nr. 1000/2005. Noise mapping and action plan-The aim
To map the noise. Evaluate the noise. Make list of action to decrease the noise and decrease the annoyance by noise in the airport surroundings. Estimate how many is exposed by noise around the airport.

7 Noise mapping: Airport operational body: Makes noise map.
Local municipality makes noise map for urban area in cooperation with other bodies which are responsible for making noise map. If the noise from airport expose noise for more than one municipalities, they can cooperate in their work in noise mapping.

8 Action plan: If the result from Noise Mapping shows that noise is over allowed criteria, action plan is needed to show action to decrease noise. Local municipalities is responsible for making action plan in cooperation with operational authority of major airport and local health authorities. Local municipalities shall present to its inhabitants the action plan for them to make observation regarding the action plan.

9 Regulation Noise nr. 724/2008. The aim of the regulation is to prevent or decrease the risk of harmful effects by noise for humans. Airports operational authorities duties: The noise in airport may not go over the criteria in the table.
