1 Program Advisory Committee Dinner Meeting May 14, 2009

2 As Harford Countys technical high school, our mission is to ensure that every student will become a productive, responsible citizen while achieving mastery of academic, technical and life skills. Harford Technical High School students will accomplish this mission by participating in a challenging learning environment built on a strong partnership among students, faculty, family and community.

4 HTHS FFA Team Members won big at the State FFA Competition: Katelyn Perzynski, 1 st in Creed Speaking Katie Snyder, Darlene Ney & Kelly Kundratic, 2 nd, 3 rd & 4 th in Jr. Prepared Speaking Alexandra Kalwa, 1 st in Job Interview

7 Students worked extensively on the 1 st -ever nationwide green build in partnership with Harford Habitat for Humanity, the Harford Student Trades Foundation, Bank of America, and DeWalt.

13 Students worked on the HHH green build, as well as the new Archway for Cobra Stadium!

15 Skills USA State Winners: Eric Foltz & David Cobb 1 st Place, Web Design

16 Students developed the plans for the Harford Habitat for Humanity house and the Arch for Cobra Stadium

17 Students worked extensively on the Arch for Cobra Stadium, earning recognition as Service Stars !

18 Students in Floral Design continue to work around the calendar to produce floral creations of all descriptions for individuals, other schools, and for HTHS events (youre enjoying some of their work right now!).

19 Students have worked on projects at HTHS and with the Harford Habitat for Humanity green build project.

20 Students plan and prepare daily meals in the Cobra Cove and execute numerous breakfasts, luncheons and dinners throughout the year (we hope you have enjoyed their work this evening!).

21 Licensed Cosmetology students earn hours toward eligibility for the State Licensing Exam while working in the clinic and classroom at Harford Tech. Students earned recognition as Service Stars by providing free services to clients from eldercare settings in the area.

22 In 2008-2009, STES students: participated in internships and shadowing experiences in clinical settings such as the Arena Club, Bel Air Athletic Club Assisted with physical education at HTHS Ran the Thanksgiving and Christmas Drives for needy families, raising $2150 in cash and bringing in $2500 worth of toys, clothing & gifts.

23 Health Occupations Students of America (Nursing Assistant AND Sports Technician/Exercise Science) HT students brought home 21 of the 28 Gold Medals awarded at the State HOSA Competition! There are 14 students who will compete at NATIONALS in Tennessee! HOSA (Nursing Assistant) Certifications: 100% of HT seniors passed tests for Certified Nursing Assistant & for Geriatric Nursing Assistant

25 Students continued to design and produce newsletters, mass mailings, invitations, tickets, forms, posters, and a variety of printed material for HTHS and the community. Students earned recognition as Service Stars for their work on holiday greeting cards and calendars!

26 Students in this program are earning points through I-CAR, a national certification system that will keep the program current with industry equipment, procedures and standards. Another Skills USA State Winner: Sara Berk, 3 rd Place in Collision Repair

27 HTHS Cooperative Work Experience Program Statistics, for 2008: 33 students in the program Gross income: $212,743 Taxes paid: $42,309 Hours worked: 22, 272 Average hourly wage: $10
