3. HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR THESIS STATEMENT
To make this into an argumentative essay, you can argue that Greece and Rome are more similar in one of the aspects but more different in another aspect
EX: Greece and Rome’s economies are pretty similar, but Greece and Rome’s politics are pretty different
Whichever I have more evidence for (whichever I can support better), I will make that my main argument of the essay. The paragraph about politics and how they are different is going to be the main portion of my essay.
I can still include ways in which their political structure is similar, though. My overarching tone and theme throughout that paragraph is going to be that they are more different

4. HOW TO ORGANIZE YOUR THESIS STATEMENT
Based on all of that, a potential thesis statement could be:
Both Greece and Rome’s economies were based on trade and agriculture. However, Greece and Rome’s political structures were different: Athens had a direct democracy while Rome had a representative democracy, and Greece was comprised of independently governed poleis while Rome had a centralized government in one city. Therefore, Greece and Rome are more different than similar.

5. AND WRITE YOUR ESSAY First body paragraph: Economics
You’re going to be discussing mainly similarities between Greece and Rome’s economics here.
You can still include a difference between the two if you want to – but I would include that as my last sentence in this paragraph (also a good segue into the next paragraph about your differences!)
Second body paragraph: Politics
You’re going to be discussing mainly differences here. This paragraph should be a little bit longer than your economics paragraph because, in your thesis statement, you’re arguing that Greece and Rome are more different than similar
(You’re going to need more evidence to back up this argument)
You can still include a similarity if you want to – it could be your first sentence of the paragraph
(Although Greece and Rome shared _____ politically, their politics were ultimately more different than similar)

7. That is going to be the easiest way to write a compare/contrast essay in AP World History.
Why? It’s easier to write an essay if it has an overarching argument. If you were not given PERSIAN chart categories, you’ll make two up, and argue that they’re more similar in one and more different in the other.

Greece and Rome are similar because they worship the same polytheistic gods. However, women were treated better in Rome than Greece and Christianity existed in the Roman empire but not in the Greek civilization. Therefore, Greece and Rome are more different than similar.
